After practicing yoga for any length of time, you might find that you end up in a bit of pain when you take a few days off. My friend practices Bikram yoga and has for about a year. With this great weather, she’s been active in other ways, walking, etc., and hasn’t been keeping up with the yoga classes. She was surprised to start feeling some uncomfortableness in her upper back, between her shoulder blades especially.
I explained to her that when you begin doing exercises of this type (or any, really) your body adjusts and ‘expects’ the workout. Stress and toxins build up in your muscles, and yoga releases them. Sometimes when you first begin a routine you’ll be sore for a day or two as everything sort of flushes out. When it starts to come back, boy do you feel it! You kind of start to wonder how you every made it without the stretching.
